Huidedao - Antika sydkinesiska svärd

Vad kan man då läsa om dessa sydkinesiska svärd?

This is one of two most-commonly encountered styles of antique hudiedao. The narrow blades with acute points and balance point close to the hilt are ideal for quick thrusting action, although their sharp edges and weight allow for powerful strikes and lacerating cuts.

The other style has somewhat thinner blades which are about 50% wider, and this is better-suited for slashing cuts. There seems to be no conclusive evidence that these were issued in quantity to the military, and we can conclude that these were primarily civilian weapons. There is no basis to the term ?river pirate swords? used by antiques dealers. Indeed, by virtue of their single-edged blades, they are not swords at all.
